SXSW is celebrating their 40th year anniversary. Things are a bit different this year, so this week’s newsletter is dedicated to helping you navigate it.

SXSW High Level Overview
The Austin Convention Center is undergoing a $1.6 Billion renovation until 2029, which means events will be held across downtown venues
The Festival is now compressed into a 7 day (previously 9-10 days) with the programming overlapping (music, film, tech, comedy)
The First SXSW was held in 1987 with 700 attendees as a regional music festival. Film being added in 1994, and Tech being added in 1999
SXSW is one of Austin’s largest economic drivers creating impact on the local economy: 2024: ~$377.3 million, 2023: ~$380.9 million, 2022: ~$280.7 million
Official badges range in pricing: Platinum ($2,095), Interactive ($1,450), Film & TV ($1,225), and Music ($895). But there will be plenty of FREE unofficial things to do across Congress Ave, Rainey St, and 6th St.
